OAK Lesson Program 2017-2018 (Brochure)
Registration opens September 1, 2017
What has changed?
  • Registration for OAK Lessons (September to May) is now through the Club side of the website and they now run for the whole season (dates below). Please follow the detailed instructions on the registration tab.
  • Lessons are now divided by AGE. The year of birth sets which Lesson you must enroll in.
  • The swimmer MUST meet the skills required (see below) in addition to the age parameters. This is so your children will be at a similar level to other swimmers in the lessons and not out of their depth and struggling.
  • Lesson fees are now by 8 installments rather than paying in full upfront.
  • Each child will receive googles and an OAK cap at the first lesson as quality goggles are critical to be able to swim properly. These items are included in the fee.
  • Each lesson participant is required to pay for and complete the Swim Canada registration that OAK will initiate for you. The registration fee covers each swimmer from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018 and covers membership with Swim Canada, Swim Ontario and OAK as well as entry into the final meet in May.
  • Swimmers will participate in racing opportunities and will take part in a swim meet at the end of the season. The final meet is tentatively set for Sunday May 27, 2018, in Brantford and there will be a cost involved.

Please note that lesson dates will be confirmed on a monthly basis as occasionally dates may change due to circumstances beyond the Clubs control. The total number of lessons will remain the same however, the monthly calendar will be posted ahead of time on the Lesson tab of the OAK website.

As the lesson format has changed, so has the withdrawal policy. The policy is now the same as for all the club members (from Club manual):
All withdrawals must be made in writing. The effective withdrawal date is the LAST DAY OF THE MONTH that the written request is received by the club. In every case of withdrawal, OAK shall retain the registration fee and one months program fee as an administrative fee and shall pro-rate all swim lesson fees against prepayments. The OAK Lesson season is 8 months. The swimmer's family shall be liable for any shortfall; the club will refund any overpayments within 45 days. Withdrawals after March 31st are not eligible for program fee refunds.
  1. The Oakville Aquatic Club will not release through Swim Ontario any member who has failed to meet her/his monetary commitment.
  2. Membership to the Oak Aquatics club is provided on a full year basis. Although you may make membership payments monthly, it should be understood that leaving the club prior to the end of the season will require a reconciliation of fees that may exceed those that have been to date. If necessary, you will be invoiced, and understand that you are responsible for paying any outstanding balance.
